With Radio Massacre International it's tough to know whether their music heralds the creation of the world or its end. On Lost in Space, their six disc compilation, RMI presents music for either occasion, as well as alien invasion, cryogenic dreaming, zero-gravity chillout zones and (the ever popular) cosmic longing. Steve Dinsdale, Duncan Goddard and Gary Houghton have been working together as Radio Massacre International for a long time. Through the years this trio has developed a distinctive style set on transcending individual consciousness. Based on intuition and the creative exploitation of technological advances (and recessions) in electronic music, RMI live in the context of long-form spacemusic improvisations. Lost in Space consists of the most successful of these affairs. Made up of concert rehearsals, formless jam sessions, rough sketches and companion pieces to commercial releases, this collection leads the listener past RMI's external persona and into the deeper secrets of the band's make-up and motivations.
