Tiny Colour Movies
On Tiny Colour Movies (47'49"), John Foxx has assembled 15 different electronic pieces that, taken in sum, seem unconnected - until the album's smaller, intimate moments are felt. His music is instantly likable and, as the listener's mind relaxes, becomes alive with imagery. Big and heroic, then measured and slow, Foxx's work is subtly contrasted and consistently engaging. Referencing the early spacey works of Jarre and Vangelis, Tiny Colour Movies makes this path seem new. From saturated synth pads to ethereal tone painting, this release frames rather than follows the music. Foxx creates moods through the arrangement of sound - for us to see how individual outlooks can provide a sense of sharing the world.
