Profile: Broekhuis Keller & Schönwälder
Broekhuis Keller & Schonwalder It is obvious by the vast musical output of Broekhuis, Keller & Schönwälder that they are playing something out of their own lives - filling the vast emptiness of space with their active imaginations. Whether it is a warm lead line swirling back and forth along the keyboard or icy chords slowly changing and holding, their music works well due to the casual intimacy between each musician. Songs ramp up and wind down in wonderfully dramatic cycles. With harmonic waves of pastoral synth strings and celestial choirs drifting along at the pace of the cosmos, to expressive keyboard solos hovering above interlocking drumming and sequencer patterns, their live performances whirl in a pool of rhythm and sound.

It may be that for Manikin Records founder Mario Schönwälder concerts and collaborations are his primary contact with other human beings. Anyone who knows anything about Schönwälder knows that he is usually found with his nose buried in keyboard manuals, eyes analyzing synthesizer faceplates, fingers twiddling knobs, ears enclosed by headphones and his mind completely immersed in Spacemusic - nearly every waking moment. Thank goodness that he occasionally emerges from this complete absorption to perform live publicly and jam with fellow sequencer music aficionados.Mario Schonwalder
Broekhuis Keller & SchonwalderBroekhuis, Keller & Schönwälder play sounds for the head, but their work comes straight from the heart. The genre of music they are exploring began back in the 1970s. Though its meaning has greatly changed over time, it still remains an engrossing refection - a universe unto itself. Spacemusic is liberating for musician and listener alike, with its truth always residing just beyond our grasp.
