Old GuardThe 10.08.06 Fundraising Broadcast of STAR'S END featured an in-studio live interview with a few hosts from the early days of the program. Current host Chuck van Zyl spoke to STAR'S END co-founder and present-day ECHOES host John Diliberto and Philadelphia music scene icon Gino Wong about their past involvement with the show. Topics included how STAR'S END first came to air on WXPN, it's original concept, the early groups that gave STAR'S END its identity, a possible inception date, past hosts, anecdotal tales and the 30th anniversary of STAR'S END. The Ministry of Inside ThingsThe Ministry of Inside Things performed live on the 28 January 2001 broadcast of STAR'S END. The concert lasted for over an hour and touched on many of the hallmarks of spacemusic: cyclical sequencer patterns under soaring lead melodies contrasted by passages of deep synth tones and glissando guitar. Orbital DecayOrbital Decay performed live on the 19 August 2001 broadcast of STAR'S END. The concert lasted for one hour and was the duo's first live gig outside of their studio. The music led listeners through several areas of interstellar space. Furber's dense synth pads and resonant sequencer patterns provided the foundation upon which Watkins would build his melodic structures of electric guitar leads.
